It is no secret that Cape Championship Wrestling has become a big success in a very short amount of time. The CCW Super Show a few weeks ago did nothing short of proving why this is THE PLACE to be. Cape Girardeau may not be the biggest town, but it’s not always about the attendance; it is about the quality of the show and making it rememberable.
The upcoming CCW event, The Ashlynn McClure Memorial Show, is for a great cause, and it will feature one of the best, in my opinion, match cards that CCW has ever had.
You know the drill: let’s analyze!
BRANDON “ESPY” ESPINOSA VS BARACKUS
We all know how great Brandon Espinosa is in the ring. I want to talk about Barackus.
Barackus made his CCW debut at March Malice against Kyle O Riley. The two worked very well together, and even though Barackus didn’t get the win, he looked impressive to the fans in attendance that night.
With Brandon Espinosa facing Ace Hawkins in a Ladder Match for the MWR Missouri Championship this Saturday at Dynamic Pro Wrestling, is it possible that Espy wins the title and defends it against Barackus? Anything can happen, folks.
LA HUSTLERS VS KC FINEST
I don’t know a lot about this “KC Finest” team (I have done tons of research and have found nothing), so there’s not a lot to say except for that I’m glad that CCW keeps bringing in talents. CCW fans, however, do know of the LA Hustlers, and they are fun to boo. This should be an interesting match.
After failing to win the CCW Tag Team Titles at Tag Team Turmoil and teaming with Red Daniels (who is an amazing guy) in a losing effort to Sexy Sarge & Roscoe Eat Lisa, the Hustlers need that big W.
JD WILK LAWLESS OPEN CHALLENGE
The Dream Chaser JD Wilk issues another open challenge. His first open challenge, at March Malice, was accepted by Phoenix. After JD won the match, the recently fired “Fury” Jason Vaughn showed up to take the fight to his ‘former apprentice’. The Fury was kicked out of the building, and he hasn’t been in a CCW ring since.
JD would have been scheduled to team with the LA Hustlers at the Super Show, but he had a shoulder injury. Despite being hurt, he still showed up to the show and helped in any way he could. THAT is true passion! Thank you, JD.
Now that he is ready to go, who will be the next stepping stone in the rise of JD Wilk?
TONY KOZINA (Champion) VS JUSTIN D’AIR FOR THE CANADIAN UNIFIED JR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
One of three title matches we will get to see.
Tony is a living legend that can still wrestle like he’s in his 30’s. If you didn’t already know, he is responsible for wrestlers like Kyle O Riley and Davey Richards. He’s done a lot for the business, and he’s a hard guy to dislike.
His opponent, Justin D’Air: I had never heard of him until I looked up some videos of him after the card was revealed. This guy is capable of incredible things. If you like Tatt2, then you will like Justin. I’m excited that he is coming to CCW.
I believe that this match will deliver big-time!
EL CAMPEON & SARAH SUMMERS VS SYN & LITTLE BIT
El Campeón: another new face in CCW. It’s quite ironic, because apparently, this guy doesn’t like to show his face from what I hear.
The Sarah Summers vs Little Bit rivalry is always good. It’s fun to cheer Little Bit and boo Sarah Summers. They have good chemistry with one another.
Syn was impressive in the opening match at the Super Show; he almost won the MWR Missouri Championship and even hit an Avalanche Spanish Fly (it was a mark-out moment). What do you think he will have in his arsenal for “El Campeón”?
TATT2 & DAVEY VEGA VS ACE HAWKINS & CODY WILSON
It is great to finally see Ace Hawkins & Cody Wilson as a team and moving towards the top of the CCW card. It will be interesting to see how they coexist as a team.
Davey Vega, recipient of the 2016 MWR Future Star Award, had an incredible match with Joey Ryan. It’s great to see him back in CCW again. He defeated the new CCW Champion Hollis Giroux at the pilot show in July, so maybe their paths will cross again in the future? But for now, Davey will team with the very talented Tatt2 (who we hope is feeling better).
BLASTER & SEXY SARGE (CHAMPIONS) VS BILLY HILLS & DELL TUCKER OF THE PINNACLE
At the Super Show, Blaster and Jeff Cobb won the Tag Team Titles from The Pinnacle. It’s a real shame that Jeff Cobb can’t stick around to be one half of the Tag Team Champions, but we understand why. Oh…did I forget to mention that RON SIMMONS helped Blaster and Jeff Cobb win the titles? Ron Simmons showed up, once again proving that anything can happen in CCW.
Blaster will have rotating partners, meaning that he will have a new tag team partner each time there is a Tag Team Title defense. The Pinnacle gets their Tag Team Title rematch, & this time, his partner will be Sexy Sarge to finally form the long awaited SEXY BLASTERS!
I wonder if Blaster will have a sock that wears a mask.
Sexy Sarge used to be in The Pinnacle, so he knows what cheap tricks to expect. Good choice, Blaster!
HOLLIS GIROUX (CHAMPION) VS BRANDON BARBWIRE FOR THE CCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
In January at Caged Chaos, Brandon Barbwire & Hollis Giroux faced off for the CCW Heavyweight Championship, and there was some controversy with Brandon pinning Hollis. At Tag Team Turmoil, Brandon Barbwire lost to Matt Hardy via count-out, causing animosity between Brandon and his manager at the time, Jeff O Dell. Tensions were high between Tag Team Turmoil and March Malice, but things seemed to be working out at the end of Barbwire’s defense against Sexy Sarge. However, true colors were shown when Jeff betrayed Brandon Barbwire at the Super Show, giving the title belt to Hollis Giroux instead of him.
Now that Brandon Barbwire is free from the Pinnacle, he now seeks his revenge on Jeff by regaining the CCW Heavyweight Championship.
Both sides have advantages in this match. Jeff knows Brandon’s tactics, but Brandon also knows Jeff’s tactics. Hollis and Brandon have been in the ring with each other multiple times. Each side may need to get creative in order to pick up the win.
In the midst of Brandon & Jeff’s drama, let’s not overlook Hollis Giroux though; he has consistently put on great matches in CCW, and he deserves to be the champion. While I am one of the original members of the Barbwire Bandwagon, I also say this: do not take Hollis Giroux lightly.
These are all of the matches that will take place at The Ashlynn McClure Memorial Show for St. Jude on May 20th at the Lawless-Harley Davidson in Scott City. This is great wrestling for a great cause.
Now that you know what’s going on, come check it out for yourself!
